Swimming and Diving Completes Incoming Class for 2010-11

Head swimming coach Bill Ball and head diving coach Dave Maliar have announced the addition of five student-athletes to their incoming class in 2010-11, bringing the total number of the class to eight. The Blue Devils have won two Northeast Conference titles and finished second once in the last three years. They won back-to-back championships in 2008 and 2009 before finishing second last season.

CCSU Swimming to Hold Water Safety Clinic May 9

The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team will be conducting a free water safety clinic on Sunday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m. The event is sponsored by Stew Leonard III Children's Charities and is for children ages two to six. The clinic will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Blue Devils' Jack Suydam Natatorium in Kaiser Hall. All those ready to have fun and learn basic water safety, grab a towel and head to CCSU for the event.

Blue Devils Finish ECAC Championships in Eighth

The Central Connecticut State University swimming and diving team finished competition at the ECAC Championships today. The Blue Devils placed eighth out of 24 scoring teams, recording 227 total points. The 400 freestyle relay team of Alex Czaplicki, Kandra Kane, Taylor Friedmann and Katie Lang recorded the top finish of the day, placing fifth in a time of 3:31.13.

Swimming Competes In Day Two Action at ECAC Championships

Both relay teams placed in the top five as Central Connecticut State University competed in the second day of competition at the ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday. The 800 freestyle relay team of senior Kandra Kane, sophomore Alex Czaplicki and freshmen Taylor Friedmann and Katie Lang led the way with a silver medalist performance, recording a time of 7:36.09.

Friedmann Wins 500 Free, Blue Devils in Fifth at ECACs

Freshman Taylor Friedmann won the 500 freestyle as Central Connecticut State University competed in the first day of competition at the ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday. Friedmann recorded a time of 4:56.81 to earn gold medalist honors in the event. The Blue Devils are in fifth place out of 18 scoring teams after one day of action in Pittsburgh, PA.

Nine Swimmers and Divers Earn All-NEC Honors

Taylor Friedmann was named Co-Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet and Co-Outstanding Rookie of the Meet at the Northeast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships two weeks ago. The freshman headlines a group of nine Central Connecticut swimmers and divers to be named to the All-NEC Teams, as released by the conference today.

Central Falls Just Short of Third Straight NEC Championship

The Central Connecticut State University swimming and diving team started the final day of the Northeast Conference Championships down 28.5 points. After the first three events of day three CCSU found itself up by 41.5 points, but St. Francis (PA) won the final three events and went on to win the meet by 48 points. The Blue Devils, who had won the last two NEC Championships were the Runners-up with 508.5 points.

Blue Devils Remain In Second After Two Days at NEC Championships

Sophomore Alex Czaplicki and freshman Taylor Friedmann each won one event on Friday, but Central Connecticut State University remains in second place after two days of competition at the Northeast Conference swimming and diving championships. Czaplicki won the first individual event of the night, touching in at 4:32.21 in the 400 IM. Friedmann broke another CCSU freshman record on Friday, winning the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:50.75.

CCSU In Second After First Day at Northeast Conference Championships

In pursuit of its third straight Northeast Conference Championship, the Central Connecticut State University swimming and diving team stands 11 points back of St. Francis (PA) after day one of competition at Yale University. Freshman Taylor Friedmann highlighted the day, taking first place in the 500 freestyle with a record breaking time of 4:52.56. She topped the best ever time by a Central Connecticut freshman and broke the NEC record while winning the event.

Swimming and Diving Ready To Defend Title

The Central Connecticut State University swimming and diving team will attempt to win the Northeast Conference Championship for the third straight season this weekend. The conference championship meet will be held at Yale University in New Haven, CT on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Prelim action will start at 10:00 a.m. each day and finals will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Central Swimming Tops Wagner, 153-108 On the Road

Sophomore Alex Czaplicki and freshman Taylor Friedmann won three events each as Central Connecticut State University defeated Wagner on the road by a score of 153-108. The Blue Devils won 10 out of 14 events to stay undefeated in Northeast Conference action at 2-0.

Watch Highlights From College Conference Carnival

Highlights from this past weekend's College Conference Carnival are now available for viewing. Swimming World Magazine #$%^along with Rutgers University hosted the event on January 22 and 23. The Blue Devils competed along with Minnesota, #$%^Richmond, Rider, UMBC and Rutgers. Among the videos available at SwimmingWorld.TV is the 500 freestyle 'B' Final which #$%^features freshman Taylor Friedmann and senior Kandra Kane placing first and third, respectively.

Swimming and Diving Finishes Competition at College Conference Carnival

Sophomore Kristen Malski put forth the fourth best time in the 100 breastroke, touching in at 1:06.63 as the Central Connecticut State University swimming and diving team finished competition at the Swimming World College Conference Carnival at Rutgers on Saturday. The Blue Devils placed sixth in the two day meet in which the University of Minnesota edged out the host Scarlet Knights for the championship.

CCSU Competes In Day One of College Conference Carnival

Freshman Taylor Friedmann and senior Kandra Kane both placed in the top 10 of the 500 freestyle as Central Connecticut State University competed in the first day of action at the Swimming World College Conference Carnival. Friedmann took third with a time of 5:00.38, while Kane placed seventh, touching in at 5:05.51.

Vestergaard Earns Fifth NEC Diver of the Week Honor

Sophomore Madison Vestergaard earned her second straight Northeast Conference Diver of the Week honor and her fifth of the season for her performance against Miami on Saturday. She led CCSU this weekend with two first place finishes. The Middletown, CT native won the one-meter dive with 252.60 points. Her score was only 1.3 points off the Central school record in the event. She also took home gold medalist honors in the three-meter dive with a score of 236.93. Vestergaard has the top scores in the NEC this season and has qualified for the ECAC Championships with her performance.
