Blue Devil Swimming and Diving Announces 2009-10 Schedule

Central Connecticut swimming and diving, the two-time defending Northeast Conference champions, announced its 2009-10 schedule. The schedule, which is highlighted by meets against the previous America East champions New Hampshire and Boston University, opens with CCSU's Annual Alumni Pentathlon on Saturday, Oct. 3 in the Suydam Natatorium.

Ball Adds Five More For 2009-10 Season

Central Connecticut head swimming and diving coach Bill Ball announced five additions to the Blue Devil squad for the 2009-10 season on Friday. Lauren O'Kelly, Jennifer O'Leary, Christine Smith, Lauren Shortell, and Korinn Taylor have committed to CCSU for next season in hopes of winning a third straight Northeast Conference Championship for the Blue Devils.

Swimming and Diving Finishes ECAC Championships in 6th

Sophomore Megan McGorry and freshman Alex Czaplicki won their respective events on Sunday but it was not enough, as the Central Connecticut swimming and diving team finished sixth at the 2009 ECAC Championships at Harvard University. McGorry won the 1650 freestyle by over seven seconds, touching in at 17:03.54. Czaplicki finished the 200 backstroke in 2:00.27, just .55 seconds off of former Blue Devil Lindsey Snyder's school record.

Blue Devils Move Up To 6th After Day Two of ECACs

After two days of competition at the ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships, Central Connecticut is in sixth place with 216 points heading into final day action on Sunday. Six different individuals scored points in three events, while both Blue Devil relays finished in the top six to keep CCSU in the hunt as they try to defend their ECAC Title at Harvard University.

CCSU Swim and Dive Finishes Day One of ECACs in 7th

The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team recorded 45 out of its 86 points in the 500 freestyle during day one of competition at the ECAC Championships at Blodgett Pool on the campus of Harvard University. The Blue Devils currently stand in seventh place out of 23 scoring teams, while the host Crimson lead the way with 161 points. Senior Erin Crowley was the top swimmer for CCSU, taking second in the 500 free with a career best of 4:54.43. Sophomore Megan McGorry and senior Heather Vendetta finished third and seventh in the event with times of 4:57.79 and 5:05.63, respectively.

Nine Blue Devils Named Swimming and Diving All-NEC Performers

Central Connecticut freshman Alex Czaplicki was named Rookie of the Meet, while fellow freshman Mallory Miller earned the Outstanding Diver award this past weekend at the Northeast Conference Championships. The two first year competitors headlined a league high nine Blue Devils to receive All-NEC honors announced Tuesday. Senior Erin Crowley, sophomores Megan McGorry and Alyssa Carlucci, as well as freshman Kristen Malski also received first team accolades. Senior Heather Vendetta, junior Kandra Kane and freshman Sam Smolicz were tabbed to the All-NEC Second Team. The all-conference first and second teams consist of the first and second place event finishers from the NEC Championship meet this past weekend.

CCSU Swimming and Diving Repeats as Northeast Conference Champions in 2009

The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team led by 18 points heading into the final day of competition and ended it with a 17 point victory to repeat as Northeast Conference Champions on Saturday at Yale University. Despite losing 11 champions from a year ago, the Blue Devils held off Wagner, St. Francis (PA) and all others to win the 2009 NEC Championship with 552 points.

Blue Devils Hold 18 Point Lead Heading Into Final Day at NECs

The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team won six of seven events, but lost ground to second place Wagner as the Blue Devils lead 365-347 after day two at the Northeast Conference Championships at Yale University. CCSU heads into final day action with an opportunity to match last year's record of winning 18 of 20 events in competition at the conference championship meet.

CCSU Wins 5 of 6 Events, Leads After Day One of NECs

The Central Connecticut women's swimming and diving team finds themselves in a familiar position after day one of competition at the Northeast Conference Championships at Yale University. The defending champion Blue Devils lead the way with 192 points, while Wagner and St. Francis (PA) are currently in second and third with 161 and 102 points, respectively. CCSU captured gold in five of the six events in day one action, with victories from Erin Crowley, Megan McGorry, Alex Czaplicki, Mallory Miller and the Central Connecticut 400 medley relay team.

Blue Devils Look To Defend Title at NEC Championships

After finishing off the regular season with a home victory over Wagner, the Central Connecticut swimming and diving team will attempt to repeat as Northeast Conference Champions on February 12-14. The three day event will be held at Yale University with preliminaries to begin each morning at 10:00 a.m. and finals starting at 6:00 p.m.

Miller Tabbed NEC Diver of the Week

For the fourth time this season Mallory Miller has been named Northeast Conference Diver of the Week. The Central Connecticut freshman received the honors for her performance against Wagner on Saturday. Miller won the three-meter dive and was second in the one-meter, while qualifying for the ECAC Championships.

Crowley Sets Record, Blue Devils Top Wagner On Senior Day

Senior Erin Crowley won all three freestyle sprints and broke the pool record in the 200 free to lead the Central Connecticut swimming and diving team to a 146-114 victory over Wagner on senior day at the Jack Suydam Natatorium. The Plainville, CT native recorded a time of 1:52.96 in the 200 freestyle to break the previous pool record of 1:54.21set by Tammie Repass in 2001. Crowley won the 50 and 100 free events in times of 25.01 and 53.87 seconds respectively. She holds the Northeast Conference top time this season in all three events.

Erin Crowley and Mallory Miller Awarded NEC Honors Once Again

For the second week in a row senior Erin Crowley and freshman Mallory Miller were awarded with Northeast Conference honors for their performance this weekend against Miami. Crowley has now been named NEC Swimmer of the Week four times, while Miller has received NEC Diver of the Week accolades three times in her first season as a Blue Devil.

CCSU Swimming Falls to Miami 166-73

The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team was defeated by the University of Miami on Saturday, 166-73. Senior Erin Crowley won the 1,000 freestyle in 10 minutes and 24.22 seconds. She was also third in the 100 free, touching in at 54.36. Sophomore Megan McGorry and freshmen Alex Czaplicki and Mallory Miller each took home a second and third place finish at the Whitten University Center Pool.

Crowley and Miller Receive Swimmer and Diver of the Week Honors

Senior Erin Crowley and freshman Mallory Miller received Northeast Conference weekly honors for their performances at Central Connecticut's meet against Holy Cross and Vermont on Sunday. Today marks the third Swimmer of the Week honor for Crowley and the second Diver of the Week accolades for Miller. The duo also received the awards together on November 25 after shining in the Terrier Invitational at Boston University.

Blue Devils Split Dual Matchups In First Meet of 2009

Senior Erin Crowley and freshman Mallory Miller each came away with two first place finishes, while the Central Connecticut swimming and diving team split their first dual match-ups of 2009. The Blue Devils defeated Holy Cross 216 to 83, but fell to Vermont 120 to 179 in Worcester, MA on Sunday afternoon. Crowley took first in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, touching in at 24.93 and 54.26, respectively. Miller won both diving events of the meet, scoring 209.90 points in the one-meter and 232.25 points in the three-meter.
