CCSU Splits Season-Ending Doubleheader, Brenneman Throws Complete Game Three-Hitter in Win

Playing its final scheduled doubleheader of the season, Central Connecticut (9-34) split a pair of non-conference games at Hartford (19-20). The Blue Devils, who were playing as the home team, dropped a 3-2 decision in game one and won, 3-1, in game two. Senior Rachel Brenneman threw a complete game three-hitter with a season-high nine strikeouts in the win. Sophomore Katherine Knowles went 3-for-3 with two doubles, and junior Sara Budrick drove in a pair of runs. Sophomore Kendall Sours added an RBI single. Junior Jaclyn Logan had a two-run double in the opener. Budrick added a triple in the defeat.

Brenneman Registers 300th Career Strikeout in First Game of Doubleheader Split at Holy Cross

Central Connecticut (8-33) senior Rachel Brenneman recorded her 300th career strikeout in game one of a doubleheader split at Holy Cross (13-34). Brenneman threw a complete game six-hitter to earn the 4-1 win in the opener. Already the program's all-time career strikeout leader, she fanned five in her fourth win of the season. The Blue Devils lost the second contest, 10-2, in six innings. Sophomore Katherine Knowles, who doubled, was one of three CCSU players with two hits in the first game. Junior Sara Budrick had an RBI single in the second contest.

CCSU Drops Northeast Conference Doubleheader on Senior Day

Central Connecticut (7-32, 3-13) lost a Northeast Conference doubleheader versus Mount St. Mary's (15-29, 10-8) on senior day at Saint Joseph College. The Blue Devils lost the first game, 2-1, in eight innings. Junior Jaclyn Logan and sophomore Katherine Knowles each had two hits in the opener. Freshman Kelli Griffiths drove in the team's lone run with a sacrifice fly. In game two, the Blue Devils fell 11-0 in five innings. Logan had the lone hit for CCSU.

Logan Paces Blue Devils in Northeast Conference Doubleheader, CCSU Loses Pair Versus Monmouth

Central Connecticut (7-30, 3-11) lost both ends of a Northeast Conference home doubleheader versus Monmouth (24-15-1, 10-6) at Saint Joseph College. The Hawks won both games 8-5. Junior Jaclyn Logan had a home run and a double to lead CCSU in the opener. She paced four Blue Devils with two-hit efforts. Sophomores Kendal Sours and Katherine Knowles and freshman Samanthan Cieri also had two hits. Sours had a double. Logan and Knowles each had two hits in the second contest.

Tuesday's Softball Doubleheader Postponed, Make-Up Scheduled for April 28

Central Connecticut's non-conference doubleheader at Holy Cross, scheduled to start at 3 p.m. today, has been postponed due to inclement weather. The doubleheader has been pushed back to next Tuesday, Apr. 28, at 3 p.m.

Blue Devils Earn Northeast Conference Doubleheader Split at Wagner, Pick Up 7-5 Win in Game Two

Central Connecticut (7-28, 3-9) split a Northeast Conference road doubleheader versus Wagner (16-26, 4-10) on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils bounced back for a 7-5 win in the second game after losing the opener 11-3 in six innings. Junior Jaclyn Logan and sophomores Kendall Sours and Erica Koehler each had two hits in game two. Senior Rachel Brenneman collected the win on the mound. Junior Tiffany Erickson and freshman Kelli Griffiths had two hits apiece in the first contest.

Koehler Posts Three-Hit Afternoon at Long Island, Blue Devils Fall Twice

Central Connecticut (6-27, 2-8) lost 6-0 and 3-0 at Long Island (20-14, 10-1) in Northeast Conference road play. Sophomore Erica Koehler had a pair of singles in the opener. She doubled in the second contest, while sophomore Katherine Knowles singled twice.

Koehler and Sours Each Have Two-Hit Days at Army, Blue Devils Drop Pair of Games

Central Connecticut (6-25) lost two games at Army (18-27) on Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Devils dropped 1-0 and 4-0 decisions. Junior Jaclyn Logan and sophomore Erica Koehler each doubled in the opener. Sophomore Elizabeth Montemurro through a two-hitter in the defeat. In the second game, sophomore Kendall Sours had two hits, including a double, to lead CCSU.

Softball Doubleheader Versus SFPA, Baseball Game Against Sacred Heart Postponed

Central Connecticut softball and baseball both had today's games postponed due to inclement weather. The softball team's scheduled doubleheader versus St. Francis (PA), and the baseball team's final contest of its four-game series with Sacred Heart were called off this afternoon. Make-up dates for the events have not been scheduled.

Central Connecticut (6-23, 2-6) lost both ends of a Northeast Conference home doubleheader versus Robert Morris (18-15, 6-3) at the University of New Haven. The Blue Devils dropped 7-2 and 1-0 decisions. Junior Jaclyn Logan had a home run in the opener. Logan and junior Sara Budrick singled in the second contest. Senior Rachel Brenneman scattered four hits and struck out six in game two.

Today's softball doubleheader versus Brown has been canceled. The games, scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. on UConn's softball field, were called due to inclement weather. No make-up has been scheduled.

Softball Drops Both Ends of Doubleheader Versus UConn

Central Connecticut (6-21) lost both games of a doubleheader versus UConn (20-11) in Storrs, CT. Junior Sara Budrick had a single in each game for the Blue Devils, who were serving as hosts for the pair of contests. The Huskies won game one, 8-0, in five innings. They then picked up an 11-0, five-inning victory in game two.

Central Connecticut (6-19, 2-4) lost a pair of 5-2 Northeast Conference games at Quinnipiac (8-21, 3-3). Junior Jaclyn Logan and sophomores Kendall Sours and Katherine Knowles all had a hit in the opener. Junior Tiffany Erickson paced the Blue Devils in game two. She had two hits, including a solo home run.

Logan Has Four-Hit Day Against Bryant, Blue Devils Lose Both Ends of Doubleheader

Central Connecticut (6-17) lost both ends of its home-opening doubleheader versus Bryant (7-23) at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT. Bryant won 4-0 and 7-3. Blue Devil junior Jaclyn Logan had a double in the opener and went 3-for-4 with an RBI in game two. Sophomore Katherine Knowles and freshman Samantha Cieri each had two hits in the second game.

Blue Devils Drop Pair of 3-0 Games at Sacred Heart

Central Connecticut (6-15, 2-2) lost a pair of 3-0 decisions at Sacred Heart (7-14, 4-0) in Northeast Conference action this afternoon. Freshman Kelli Griffiths went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles in the opener. Junior Tiffany Erickson also had two hits in game one. Senior Rachel Brenneman and junior Sara Budrick accounted for the only two Blue Devil hits in game two.

CCSU's softball doubleheader at Northeast Conference foe Sacred Heart, which was postponed due to inclement weather on Sunday, will now be played on Tuesday, March 31 starting at 2:30 p.m.
