Men's XC Places 11th in University Race at IC4A/ECAC Championships
Hertzog leads Blue Devils with seventh place finish and team places 11th overall.
The Central Connecticut men's cross country team placed 11th in the University Race at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, NY. Junior Ryan Hertzog placed seventh overall to lead the Blue Devils' runners in the season's final meet.
Hertzog completed the five-mile course in 26:05.7 and averaged a 5:13.2 mile to pace CCSU. His time placed seventh out of 183 runners.
Freshman Alex Norstrom navigated the course in 27:10.0 and placed 57th, while sophomore Brendan Callahan ran the course in 27:28.5 to place 75th. Junior Derek French crossed the finish line in 27:57.2 and placed 98th.
Sophomore Eric Davidson and freshman Kevin Rivera also ran for the Blue Devils. Davidson placed 102nd and ran the course in 28:01.4, while Rivera finished the race in 29:10.3 to place 139th.
The Blue Devils totaled 319 points and placed 11th. Central's finish placed them ahead of teams such as UMass Amherst, Seton Hall and fellow Northeast Conference schools Saint Francis U and Sacred Heart.
Northeastern won the meet with a total of 77 points. Rutgers (114), Marist (121), Stony Brook (127) and Fordham (151) rounded out the top five.
The IC4A/ECAC Championships conclude the 2015 season for CCSU. The Blue Devils won three meets during the fall season, including its seventh straight Northeast Conference title to become just the third program in NEC history to win at least seven straight titles in any sport. CCSU also claimed team wins in the Ted Owen Invitational and the CCSU Mini Meet, which were held at Stanley Quarter Park.
