Baseball Drops 6-2 Decision on Friday at George Washington
Senior Jay Schillaci and sophomore Pat Epps each drove in a run but the Central Connecticut baseball team dropped the first game of a three game series at George Washington, 6-2, on Friday. Junior Anthony Scialdone had a pair of hits to lead the Blue Devils. With the loss the Blue Devils are now 3-2 overall on the season. They will play two more games with the Colonials this weekend, starting on Saturday at 12 noon.

George Washington got on the board first with a single run in the
bottom of the first inning off of senior lefty Ken
Kerski. He surrendered a solo home run to third baseman Chris
Holland with one out to give the home team the 1-0 edge.
The Blue Devils took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning with
its first runs of the game. Senior Casey
Walko reached on an error and then stole second. He scored on
an RBI double down the left field line by Epps. Epps scored the
go-ahead run on a double down the right field line by
Schillaci.
George Washington tied the game with a single run in the bottom of
the inning and then scored two in the sixth and two more in the
seventh to take the 6-2 lead.
Kerski picked up the loss on the mound for the Blue Devils pitching
six innings and allowing all six runs. He struck out five
Colonials and walked a pair in the loss, falling to 0-1 on the
season.
Scialdone had two hits to lead CCSU and Epps and Schillaci each
drove in a run in the loss. The Blue Devils had five hits in the
first four innings of the game but managed just three in the final
five innings of the game.
The Blue Devils and Colonials will continue their weekend series
with a single game at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
