Kaprelyan Named Molten/NEC Volleyball Player of the Week
The Blue Devils travel to St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday.
After helping the Central Connecticut volleyball team to a pair of wins to open conference play, junior Madelyn Kaprelyan was named the Molten Northeast Conference Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. Kaprelyan helped Central to wins over Robert Morris and Saint Francis U in the opening weekend of league games.
Kaprelyan led the Blue Devils contributing in all facets, averaging 3.57 kills, 4.71 assists and 1.43 digs per set while hitting at an efficient .379 clip. Kaprelyan posted a double-double in Central's 3-0 win over Robert Morris, hitting .462 with 13 kills and 26 assists on Friday. The Huntington Beach, CA product nearly had her second triple-double of the season on Saturday with another 12 kills, 18 assists and eight digs in a four-set win over Saint Francis U to complete a momentum-building weekend for the Blue Devils. A second team All-Conference and NEC All-Tournament player a season ago, Kaprelyan ranks fourth on the circuit in hitting percentage (.287) and sixth in kills per set (2.91), both team-leading figures.
The Blue Devils travel to Brooklyn for a pair of league matches this weekend. CCSU will face St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and then take on LIU Brooklyn in a rematch of last year's NEC Tournament Championship on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
