Head coach Linda Sagnelli and the Central Connecticut volleyball program announced the schedule for the 2018 season. The Blue Devils won a share of the Northeast Conference regular season title in 2017.
The Blue Devils' season begins at the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic on August 24-25 at St. John's University. CCSU will face Eastern Michigan, Manhattan, Fordham, and the host Red Storm in the event.
Following the opening weekend, CCSU will play at in-state foes Hartford (Aug. 29), Quinnipiac (Aug. 31) and Yale (Sept. 1). The Blue Devils will also travel to the Fairfield Invitational on September 7-8 to play Harvard, Northeastern and Michigan State.
Central will begin the season on the road before hosting Robert Morris to open league play on Friday, September 21. The Blue Devils will also host Saint Francis U (Sept. 22), Fairleigh Dickinson (Oct. 5), Sacred Heart (Oct. 6), Bryant (Oct. 12), St. Francis Brooklyn (Nov. 9) and LIU Brooklyn (Nov. 10).
The 2018 NEC Tournament will take place on November 16-17. The top four finishers, based on winning percentage during the conference's regular season will compete in a two-day, single-elimination tournament. The high seed will host the entire event.
CCSU went 19-8 overall and 11-3 in NEC action in 2017 to earn a share of the league's regular-season championship. The Blue Devils fell to top-seeded LIU Brooklyn in five sets in the championship match of the postseason tournament.
