Season
Five Student-Athletes to Join CCSU Volleyball in Fall 2011

The Central Connecticut volleyball team is set to welcome five new student-athletes for the Fall of 2011. The group includes three high school students and a pair of junior college transfers. The new student-athletes join a team that reached the Northeast Conference Tournament in 2010, but that also lost four seniors to graduation.

Petrella and DeLacey Named All-Conference; Petrella Named Libero of the Year for Second Time

Senior Kaitlin Petrella and junior Sara DeLacey were named to All-Northeast Conference on Friday night at the annual banquet held by the NEC. Petrella added her second straight NEC Libero of the Year honor, and was named to the First Team All-NEC squad. DeLacey added Second Team honors. Central is the #4 seed in the NEC Tournament and will play top seed Sacred Heart on Saturday at SHU at 4 p.m.

Volleyball Ends Season With 3-2 Loss to Top Seed Sacred Heart in NEC Tournament

The Central Connecticut volleyball team had its 2010 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 loss to top seed Sacred Heart in the Northeast Conference Tournament. Sophomore Emily Cochran led the Blue Devils with 13 kills while senior Amanda Bayer added 37 assists in the five set loss. The Blue Devils end the season with an 11-18 overall record.

Volleyball Clinches NEC Tournament Berth With Four Set Win at Quinnipiac

The Central Connecticut volleyball team needed two wins this weekend in a pair of matches vs. Long Island and Quinnipiac to earn the fourth seed in next week's Northeast Conference tournament. On Saturday they topped Long Island. On Sunday they needed just four sets to top Quinnipiac and earn the trip to the NEC Tournament next weekend. The Blue Devils are now 11-17 overall and 8-8 in NEC play.

Volleyball Tops Long Island 3-2 on Senior Day on Saturday

The Central Connecticut volleyball team rallied from down 2-1 and won the final two sets to top Long Island 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Emily Cochran led the attack with 22 kills as the Blue Devils improve to 10-16 overall and 7-8 in Northeast Conference play. Central honored its four seniors prior to the match.

Volleyball Falls to Sacred Heart in Five Sets

The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell to Sacred Heart in five sets on Wednesday night. Central is now 9-17 on the season and 6-8 in NEC action. The Blue Devils dropped the opening two sets before rebounding to win the third and fourth, but fell 15 -13 in a close final set. Junior Sara DeLacey had 15 kills to lead the Blue Devils.

Volleyball Defeats Fairleigh Dickinson 3-2

The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils are now 9-16 on the season and 6-7 in Northeast Conference action. The Blue Devils were lead by a trio of player who recorded double digit kills in the match.

Volleyball Falls to St. Francis (NY)

The Central Connecticut Volleyball team fell to St. Francis of (NY) 3-2 on Friday evening. The Blue Devils are now 8-16 on the season and 5-7 in Northeast Conference Action. The Blue Devils recorded 24 blocks as a team in the loss.

The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated the Red Flash of St. Francis (PA) in five sets on Sunday evening. The Blue Devils improve to 8-15 on the season and 5-6 in NEC action. The Blue Devils had four players post double digit kills in the match.

The Central Connecticut Volleyball team fell to Robert Morris on Saturday evening in five sets. The Blue Devils fall to 7-15 on the season and 4-6 in NEC action with the loss. Sophomore Blaike King had 16 kills for the Blue Devils.

Women's Volleyball Wins Second Straight, 3-1, on the Road at Bryant

The Central Connecticut State University volleyball team won for the second straight match, topping Bryant 3-1 on Wednesday night. Central topped the Bulldogs for the second time this season to improve to 7-14 overall and 4-5 in Northeast Conference play.

The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated NEC rival Quinnipiac three sets to none on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils improve to 6-14 on the season and 3-5 in Northeast Conference action. Sophomore Emily Cochran had 14 kills for the Blue Devils.

Central Connecticut Volleyball to Host Dig Pink! Event on Saturday, Oct. 23rd

The Central Connecticut volleyball team will host its annual Dig Pink! event on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. vs. Quinnipiac. Dig Pink is a program run throughout the country by the Sideout Foundation, helping to raise money to fight Breast Cancer through the sport of volleyball. The American Volleyball coaches Association and CCSU have partnered with Sideout to help raise funds to fight breast cancer.

Blue Devil Volleyball Drops Three Set Match at Sacred Heart on Sunday

The Central Connecticut volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road at Sacred Heart on Sunday. With the loss the Blue Devils are now 5-14 overall and 2-5 in Northeast Conference play. Sacred Heart improves to 19-4 overall and 8-0 in conference play.

Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision at Long Island on Saturday Afternoon

The Central Connecticut volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road at Long Island on Saturday. With the loss the Blue Devils drop to 5-13 overall and 2-4 in Northeast Conference action. They return to action on Sunday at Sacred Heart beginning at 1 p.m.

Volleyball Tops Providence in Four Sets on the Road on Wednesday Night

The Central Connecticut volleyball team won its second straight match for the first time this season with a 3-1 victory on the road at Providence on Wednesday night. Central won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-20, before dropping the third set 25-20. They rebounded to take the fourth set 25-18, and improved to 5-12 overall on the season. Tori Vaughan led the offense with a team-high 12 kills in the win.
