Brown Tops CCSU Women's Lacrosse on Wednesday in Providence
Blue Devils are off until next Saturday when they travel to Colorado
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped to 0-2 on the season with an 8-2 road loss at Brown University on Wednesday afternoon. Brown led 4-1 at the half and outscored the Blue Devils 4-1 in the second to move to 2-0 on the season.
The Bears took a 1-0 lead on the first goal of the half from Rose Mangiarotti less than five minutes into the game. Central responded as freshman Carson Adelberger scored her first career goal just over a minute later to tie the game 1-1.
The Bears scored the final three goals of the first half to lead 4-1 at the break. Mangiarotti scored her second of the game and then Dianne Vitkus (17:31) and Kerianne Hunt (14:13) each scored to push the lead to three.
Central freshman Jackie Branthover, making her second career start, made five stops in net in the first half. She finished the game with eight saves and eight goals allowed.
Brown extended the lead to 5-1 before junior Alexandra Hooker scored her second goal of the season to cut the lead to 5-2. Hooker's goal was unassisted.
Brown would scored the final three goals of the game to win their second of the season. Mangiarotti scored her third goal of the game to lead all scorers.
The Blue Devils will return to action next Saturday, Mar. 6, on the road at Colorado in a 2 p.m. Eastern time contest.
