Kim Tied for Ninth Following Day One Play at Northeast Conference Championships, Blue Devils in Seventh
Central Connecticut opened up play at the Northeast Conference Women's Golf Championships with a 340 team total. Senior Deborah Kim paced the Blue Devils with an 80 on the par 72 Hershey Links in Hershey, PA. She is tied for ninth heading into second round play. CCSU sits in seventh place on the 10-team leaderboard. Round two of the three-day event will begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Apr. 25.

Junior Natalie Jones added an 84 for the Blue Devils. Sophomore Chelsea Woods shot 87, and senior Kerri Tracy posted an 89. Junior Lisa McCormick rounded out the CCSU field with a 106. Jones, Tracy and McCormick are all making their first appearance in an NEC Championship.
Defending champion Fairleigh Dickinson holds an eight stroke lead over Sacred Heart following opening round action. The Knights have three players in the top-five. Sophomore Michele Holzwarth leads classmate Lisa Warrilow by two strokes after shooting 74. Junior Eva Mayr is in a three-way tie for third at 77. Long Island senior Natalie Desjardins and Robert Morris senior Melanie Ice also carded 77s.
LIU is in third on the team leaderboard. The Blackbirds shot 321. Robert Morris (328) and Mount St. Mary's (335) round out the top five. St. Francis (PA) had a 338 to finish two strokes in front of CCSU. Monmouth, St. Francis (NY) and Wagner are in eighth, ninth and 10th after posting 364, 368 and 376.
Second round play is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
