Central Connecticut Women's Golf Picked Fifth in Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll
Central Connecticut's women's golf team was slotted fifth in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll released this afternoon. The Blue Devils, who finished tied for fourth at last season's NEC Championships, will be led this spring by senior captain Deborah Kim. Kim averaged an 83.3 over eight rounds this past fall after a 22nd place showing in last season's league championship.

Joining Kim, as players with NEC Championship experience, on CCSU's spring roster is sophomore Chelsea Woods. Woods shot 87-82-93 at the NECs last season and finished this past fall season with a 93.0 stroke average over eight rounds. Junior Natalie Jones will also provided experience for the Blue Devils. Jones, who averaged a 93.5 in 15 rounds last season, played six rounds this past fall. She closed out the fall with a pair of 87s at the Rutgers Invitational. Senior Kerri Tracy, junior Lisa McCormick, sophomore Jennie Dyson and freshman Kelly Cusson will also see action this spring.
Defending league champion Fairleigh Dickinson received six first place votes to earn the number one spot in the poll. Sacred Heart, which collected the four remaining first place votes, followed. Long Island, St. Francis (PA) and CCSU rounded out the top-five. Mount St. Mary's, Monmouth, Robert Morris, Wagner and St. Francis (NY) completed the poll.
Central Connecticut will open its spring season at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational. The two-day event at Quail Valley Golf Course in Littlestown, PA begins Monday, Apr. 6. The Blue Devils will then host a pair of tri-matches before traveling to the Hartford Spring Invitational. The NEC Championships, which will be held at the Hershey Links from Friday, Apr. 24 through Sunday, Apr. 26, conclude their schedule.
