Softball Captures Series Win over Merrimack on Senior Day
The Central Connecticut softball team celebrated senior day with a series win over Merrimack with an 8-2 victory at CCSU Softball Field.
The Central Connecticut softball team celebrated senior day with a series win over Merrimack with an 8-2 victory at CCSU Softball Field.
Kaylee Whittaker (11-6) earned her eleventh win of the season after giving up six hits and two runs in 7.0 innings pitched. The Blue Devils tallied nine hits and drove in seven runs to earn the series win. Gorman, Stringer, and Cino had two hits each. Jazmine Lasane had a triple and three RBIs on the day.

KEY MOMENTS:
BOTTOM 1ST: The Blue Devils scored three runs on three hits and two errors to start the game with a 3-0 lead. Gorman led the inning off with a hit, Vunak reached on an error and Paige Stringer singled allowing Gorman to score. Ava Cino singled in the inning for an RBI.
BOTTOM 2ND: KC Machado served an RBI single to left field that extended the Blue Devil lead to four runs. Ava Cino singled to bring home Reagan Vunak and CCSU led 5-0.
TOP 3RD: The Warriors answered with two runs on a long single that scored two Merrimack players who reached on a walk and HBP to cut Centrals lead to 5-2.
BOTTOM 4TH: Stringer singled, Machado, and Lawton walked to load the bases with two outs for Jazmine Lasane. Lasane blew the game open with a bases-clearing triple to center field and The Blue Devils took an 8-2 lead.
NOTES:
The Blue Devils lead the all-time series 5-4 after taking two out of three from Merrimack this weekend.
