Vunak’s Walk-off Highlights Saturday Split with FDU
The Central Connecticut softball team split with the FDU Knights on Saturday afternoon.
The Central Connecticut softball team earned a split with FDU, with a 1-0 game one walk-off win and a 5-0 loss in game two. A walk-off homerun from Regan Vunak highlighted the Blue Devil's victory. Kaylee Whittaker threw a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts in game one.
In game two, Ayden Stone had four RBIs and two hits for The Knights. Julia Swan earned her first victory for FDU this season with a complete game shutout in game two.
The teams will play again on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

BOTTOM 7th: The Blue Devils and Knights were scoreless going into the bottom of the 7th. Freshman Reagan Vunak started and finished the inning with a walk-off homerun that cleared the center field fence.

TOP 3rd: After recording an out FDU hit two straight singles to set up first and second with one out. Ayden Stone doubled to left center scored both runners and The Knights took an early 2-0 lead.

TOP 4th: FDU hit back-to-back singles followed by a walk that set up bases loaded with one out for Meghan Berg. Berg grounded out to Central shortstop Ava Cino. Cino's only play was to first after being positioned for a double play ball and receiving a weak grounder from Berg. The Knights tacked on another run and led 3-0 after four.

TOP 5th: The Knights added some insurance with a two-run home run from Ayden Stone catapulting FDU to a 5-0 lead.
