Reigning NEC Pitcher of the Year Kaylee Whittaker earned her second Pitcher of the Week nod this season. Whittaker went toe to toe with three-time NEC weekly award winner Brooklyn Shroyer. Whittaker went 2-0 on the weekend. In 14 innings pitched she tallied 18 strikeouts and a 1.0 ERA. She earned her 37th career win passing Liz Montemurro (36, 2008-11) for second all-time in wins at CCSU. In her first start of the weekend against the FDU she allowed just three hits while fanning nine batters and helped her team secure a 1-0 victory for her third shutout of the season in Saturday's opening game. On Sunday, the Hamilton, NJ native gave up just two runs on five hits, Whittaker pushed her win total to seven, which are tied for second-most in the NEC.
Central Connecticut is 2-1 in Northeast Conference play this season. They play a three-game series with LIU starting with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00.
