Men's Soccer Falls at Sacred Heart
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team fell to Sacred Heart on Sunday, 2-0.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team dropped a Northeast Conference match against Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Blue Devils to 5-2 in NEC play and 8-7 overall. Sacred Heart scored a goal in each half to win, 2-0.
The Pioneers scored in the 40th minute of play to break the scoreless tie. Sacred Heart's Marcello Castro scored the goal on a free kick from 30 yards out.
After the half, Sacred Heart's Brian Francolini scored off a pas from Artur Jorge. That goal came in the 60th minute of play.
Junior goalkeeper Anthony Occhialini faced six shots on the goal. He made for saves, but allowed two goals. He falls to 8-5 in the net on the season.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Friday as part of a pair of CCSU soccer doubleheader at Willow Brook Park. The Central men and women will play Quinnipiac on Friday.
