Men's Basketball Among Most Improved Teams in 2023-24
The Central Connecticut ranked among the most improved teams in NCAA Division I men's basketball during the 2023-24 season. The list was released on Monday and the Blue Devils were among a group of schools representing 12 different conferences.
The Blue Devils went 20-11 overall in 2023-24, posting its most wins since the 2006-07 season (22-12). With a 13-3 record in Northeast Conference play, CCSU finished atop the league standings tied with Merrimack to earn a share of the regular-season title. In his third season at the helm of the Blue Devils, Sellers guided CCSU to the top seed in the NEC Tournament. The Blue Devils posted non-conference wins at Fordham and UMass Lowell, while defeating NEC champion, Wagner, twice during the season. CCSU posted three win streaks of three-or-more games during the season and won nine of 10 games from Dec. 21-Feb. 1. Central was the top seed in the league tournament for the first time since 2006-07.
The list of most-improved teams from the 2022-23 to 2023-24 seasons is included below. To determine games improved, the NCAA adds the difference in victories between the two seasons to the difference in losses, then divide by two (postseason is included). For historical reference, "most-improved" can be searched in the 2024 records book.
