Women’s Cross Country Tabbed as Favorite in Preseason Poll
CCSU was tabbed as the favorites in the Northeast Conference's preseason coaches poll Monday, receiving eight first place votes from coaches around the league.
The Blue Devils finished off last year with their third NEC Championship in just as many seasons. Junior Ashley Dana finished first in the championship race and was followed by her teammate, senior Angie Rafter, who finished .1 seconds behind her. Dana was named Most Outstanding Performer by the NEC.
Rafter will be returning to run for one final season with the Blue Devils. Last year, Rafter was named to the All-NEC team and was the NEC's Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the year.
Women's cross country is scheduled to start off the fall season on September 4 when they travel to Marist to run in the Marist Season Opener.
