Baumert Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All District Team
Junior Jamie Baumert was awarded for her performance on and off the court, receiving ESPN The Magazine Academic All District 1 honors. Baumert earned a second team spot for her accomplishments this year. The Elkhorn, NE native is an elementary education major at CCSU.

This year Baumert has led the Blue Devils with 89 blocks and is
currently first in the Northeast Conference with 1.10 blocks per
set. Recently she was named NEC Player of the Week for her
performances against Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson. She
recorded a career high of 13 blocks against the Pioneers and led
the team with 17 kills in a victory over the Knights.
Last season Baumert helped lead Central to a 23-7 overall record
and a 7-1 Northeast Conference mark. The middle blocker was an
All-NEC First Team selection, while leading the Blue Devils in
hitting percentage with a .330 mark. She also led CCSU and the NEC
with 109 blocks during her sophomore campaign.
In Baumert's first season in New Britain she was named Northeast
Conference Rookie of the Week four times en route to receiving NEC
Rookie of the Year honors in 2006. She ended her freshman season
as the league leader in hitting percentage. She posted a .372
mark, giving her the third highest single-season effort in CCSU
history. Baumert also ranked second in the conference in blocks
with 1.26 per set.
The Blue Devils, who will be playing in the Northeast Conference
Tournament for the sixth straight season, will finish regular
season play with league matches versus St. Francis (NY), St.
Francis (PA) and Robert Morris. CCSU will honor its three seniors,
Amanda Olmstead, Jenna
Quadrozzi and Laura Baker, before a 1:00 p.m. match against
SFNY on Saturday, Nov. 8.
