Men's XC Wins Ted Owen; Hertzog Places First
Blue Devils feature top three placing runners.
The Central Connecticut men's cross country team won the 13th Annual Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday. The 8k race was hosted by the Blue Devils at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT and had 84 runners. Junior Ryan Hertzog paced Central, winning the meet with a time of 25:44 as the Blue Devils bested the field of 10 teams.
The Blue Devils had six runners competing, including the top three individual finishers. Freshman Alex Norstrom was just behind Hertzog with a time of 26:29 and freshman Austin Trainor finished third, finishing in 26:32.
Junior Malcolm Connor finished in 11th place overall and turned in a time of 27:37. Freshman Kevin Rivera ran the course in 27:48 to finish 15th overall and rounded out CCSU's scoring.
Also running for the Blue Devils was sophomore Eric Davidson who finished 19th with a time of 28:02 mark.
CCSU scored only 32 total points to claim the victory and had a team average time of 26:50. Behind the Blue Devils was Hartford, which scored 55 points to finish in second place. Marist (69), Stonehill (102), and Army (146) rounded out the top five.
NJIT (154), Cobleskill (180), New Haven (219), Queens (NY) (229) and Dowling (289) were the next five schools.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 for the 2015 New England Championships in Boston, MA.
