Men's Golf Completes Play at VGA/UConn Invitational
Freshman Drew Aitken leads Blue Devils in three round tournament
The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot a round three round of 314 and finished in 10th place at the VGA/UConn Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Devils finished with a three round score of 931. The tournament was held at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic, CT.
Freshman Drew Aitken led the Blue Devils and finished in a tie for 42nd place overall with a three round score of 230. He shot a 78 on the second and final day on Saturday.
Senior Nick Direda and freshman Arthur Ouimet each finished in a tie for 47th place overall with a score of 233. They shot identical rounds of 77-77-79 in each of the three rounds.
Senior Matthew Mahlke fired a 79 on the final day and finished at 236, in a tie for 52nd place overall.
Freshman Andrew Szandrocha shot 78 and finished at 237, in 54th place.
UConn won the tournament with a total score of 861 (-3). St. Thomas Aquinas (868) was second, followed by Bryant (872), Army (874) and then Hartford (876).
