Berube Scores 1,000th Point, Blue Devils Fall to LIU
Central Connecticut women's basketball dropped its road game to the LIU Sharks on Thursday as the Sharks came back in the fourth quarter. Ashley Berube scored her 1,000th career point in the loss as she led the team with 21 points.

KEY MOMENTS
- Claire Sutherland-Case knocked down the first two buckets for CCSU and the Blue Devils were off from there. Forever Toppin, Eden Nibbelink and Dejah Jenkins all scored quick threes in succession to put CCSU up 15-10 early. Berube and Jenkins each scored once more before the first quarter ended, putting CCSU up 22-16 at the end of one.
- The Sharks had two quick baskets to start the second quarter to get with one, but some more clutch shooting from Berube and Jenkins helped keep them at bay. The Sharks ended the first half on two threes in the final 1:04 to cut CCSU's lead to 34-32.
- The Sharks hit another three early in the third quarter that gave them their first lead since the first few seconds of the first quarter. They hit their third three with 6:35 left in the third to go up 43-39, but Meghan Kenefick got two quick baskets to give CCSU the lead back. LIU ended up hitting five three pointers in the third quarter and went into the final frame down by one point.
- The Blue Devils hit two quick shots to start the fourth quarter, but went scoreless over the next four minutes as the Sharks took the lead once more. Berube hit a shot to bring CCSU within one again, but the Sharks hit a dagger three that proved to be the final straw.
NOTES
- Berube was 8/11 from the field, her best percentage in a single game this season (77.8 percent).
- Berube is the 17th player to join the 1,000 point club for CCSU. The last Blue Devil to reach the total was Kiana Patterson (2015-2019).
