Men's Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Academic Honors
CCSU earns the award after posting a 3.04 cumulative team GPA during the 2012-13 academic year.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team was honored with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 season, the NSCAA announced Thursday. The Blue Devils maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.04 over the academic year to earn the award.
A total of 862 soccer teams (269 men, 593 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year.
Of that total, 182 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized, including CCSU. The Central women's squad maintained a 3.27.
From the Northeast Conference, the CCSU men's soccer team was one of five, joining Bryant, Fairleigh Dickinson, LIU Brooklyn and Saint Francis U on the prestigious list.
The Blue Devils completed this past season earning the NEC Regular Season Champion title and the right to host the 2013 NEC Championships. CCSU ultimately finished in fourth place at the tournament.
