Central Finishes Competition at New England Golf Championships
The Central Connecticut State University men's golf team finished competition at the New England Division One Championships on Sunday. The Blue Devils tied for sixth out of 12 teams in competition in Providence, RI, recording a team score of 614. Junior Justin Hughes led CCSU with a two round score of 149 on the par 72 course at Triggs Memorial Golf Club.

The Blue Devils tied for sixth out of 12 teams in competition in Providence, RI, recording a team score of 614. Junior Justin Hughes led CCSU with a two round score of 149 on the par 72 course at Triggs Memorial Golf Club.
Hughes scored a team low 73 on Sunday to tie for 11th place overall. The Blue Devils shot 308 in round two and tied Holy Cross for sixth place. UConn won the tournament with identical rounds of 293. UConn's Adam Vaccari and Hartford's Maki Kobayashi tied for first on the individual side with a toal of 144 on the weekend.
After leading Central with a score of 75 on Saturday, junior Eric Hawerchuk came back with a 78 on Sunday to tie for 19th with a total of 153. Sophomore Kevin Josephson put forth the second best score for CCSU on Sunday. He carded a 76 and tied for 29th with a two day total of 156.
Freshman Dan Fanion and sophomore Greg Beloin rounded out the Central Connecticut golfers. Both players shot 81 on Sunday. Fanion tied for 35th with a total score of 158, while Beloin was one stroke back (159) and tied for 41st.
The Blue Devils will next compete at the Northeast Collegiate Invitational in Portsmouth, RI on April 24 and 25.
