Central In Fifth After Day One at New England Championships

The Blue Devils are in fifth place out of 12 teams in competition after day one action. CCSU put up a score of 306 and trail UConn, Sacred Heart, Rhode Island and Hartford. Central leads Boston College, Bryant, Brown, Fairfield, Holy Cross, Providence and Boston University heading into Sunday's final round.
Hawerchuk went 38 on the front nine and 37 on the back nine to finish in 75 and is currently tied for ninth. Junior Justin Hughes is one stroke back of Hawerchuk after finishing in 76 to tie for 14th after round one.
Freshman Dan Fanion is currently tied for 18th after scoring a 37 on the front nine and a 40 on the back to card in at 77. Sophomores Greg Beloin and Kevin Josephson rounded out the CCSU golfers. The former is tied for 26th with a first round score of 78, while the latter is tied for 38th with a score of 80 on Saturday.
Central will finish competition at the New England Division One Championships on Sunday.
