Fanion Leads Blue Devils at St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman Dan Fanion shot one under par during 36 holes to tie for third as Central Connecticut State University placed third out of nine teams at the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational this weekend. Fanion finished three strokes back of individual champion Chris Fitzpatrick of the host Spartans. The freshman recorded scores of 71 and 72 during the two rounds of action to finish with a 143 on the weekend.

finished three strokes back of individual champion Chris
Fitzpatrick of the host Spartans. The freshman recorded scores of
71 and 72 during the two rounds of action to finish with a 143 on
the weekend.
Central finished with a team score of 597 to place third out of
nine teams. The Blue Devils recorded marks of 298 and 299 during
the competition to finish 21 strokes above par on the Rum Pointe
Golf Course. Wilimington University won the team championship with
a score of 569, while St. Thomas Aquinas was second shooting
570.
Junior Justin Hughes, as well as
sophomores Kevin
Josephson and Greg Beloin rounded out the
CCSU scorers in the tournament. Hughes tied for 10th place with a
two over par 146 (75, 71). Josephson tied for 18th, while Beloin
finished in a tie for 31st. The former finished seven with a seven
over 151 (77, 74). The latter shot 76 and 82 to record a total
score of 158 (+14).
Central will head back to the links early this week as they compete
in the C&F Bank Intercollegiate on March 22 and 23. The
tournament will take place at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg,
VA.
