Baseball Drops Series Opener at Quinnipiac on Friday Afternoon
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 7-2 decision on Friday to open up a weekend series with Quinnipiac. CCSU is now 13-12 overall and 3-5 in Northeast Conference play. Senior Casey Walko drove in a run in the loss for the Blue Devils. CCSU and Quinnipiac will play a pair of seven inning game on Saturday beginning at 12 noon.

13-12 overall and 3-5 in Northeast Conference play. Senior Casey
Walko drove in a run in the loss for the Blue Devils. CCSU and
Quinnipiac will play a pair of seven inning game on Saturday
beginning at 12 noon.
The Bobcats struck first with three runs in the bottom of the first
inning off of Blue Devil start Dan
Markoya. The lead reached 4-0 with a single run in the bottom
of the third inning.
Central Connecticut scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning
to cut the lead in half, 4-2. With two outs in the inning freshman
Mitch
Wells walked. Junior Sean
Allaire doubled and Wells scored on a throwing error on the
play. Allaire went to third on the error. Walko singled though
the right side to plate Allaire with the second run off the
inning.
Quinnipiac got a run back in the bottom of the inning and led
5-2. Markoya finished his outing pitching 6.2 inning and allowing
nine hits and five runs. He struck out six and walked three in his
first start of the season for the Blue Devils.
Quinnipiac added two more runs in the eighth inning for the 7-2
final score.
Walko and junior Anthony
Scialdone each had a pair of hits for the Blue Devils in the
loss. Allaire had a double and a run scored. CCSU hit into a pair
of double plays in the loss.
CCSU and Quinnipiac continue their weekend series with a pair of
seven inning games on Saturday beginning at 12.
