Blue Devils Drop Sunday Northeast Conference Decision at Wagner
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped an 11-4 decision on Sunday at Wagner in Northeast Conference action. The loss led to a split for the weekend series with the Seahawks. The Blue Devils swept a doubleheader on Saturday. With the loss the Blue Devils fall to 11-8 overall and 2-2 in league action.

on Sunday at Wagner in Northeast Conference action. The loss led
to a split for the weekend series with the Seahawks. The Blue
Devils swept a doubleheader on Saturday. With the loss the Blue
Devils fall to 11-8 overall and 2-2 in league action.
The home team scored a single run in the first inning but the Blue
Devils answered with three runs in the second and one in the third
to take a 4-1 lead. Senior catcher Sean
Parker drove in a run in the second inning. Junior Richie
Tri scored on a balk and junior Tommy
Meade scored on a wild pitch to plate the third run. CCSU had
three hits in the inning.
In the third inning junior Anthony
Scialdone's RBI single made the score 4-1.
Wagner answered by scoring three runs in the fourth inning and five
more in the fifth to take a 9-4 lead. Two more runs in the eighth
inning by the Seahawks made it 11-4, the eventual final score.
Senior lefty Derek
Roberts pitched the first four innings for Central Connecticut,
he did not factor in the decision. He allowed nine hits and four
earned runs while striking out one and walking three. Dan
Markoya pitched two-third of an inning and allowed four hits
and five earned runs. He was saddled with the loss. Pat
Robinson pitched the final 3.1 innings allowing four hits and
just two runs. He struck out one.
Scialdone led the offense with three hits and an RBI. Parker also
added an RBI in the loss and Tri had a pair of hits.
The Blue Devils are in action again on Tuesday at Fairfield
beginning at 3:30 p.m. CCSU will return to conference action on
Thursday hosting Sacred Heart in a single game at 7 p.m. at Beehive
Field. The two teams will also play a single game on Friday at
noon and then a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at noon. All
of the games will be played at Beehive Field in New Britain.
