Junior third baseman Sean Allaire was named the Akadema
Northeast Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday
by the conference office. Allaire and the Blue Devils, now 6-3 on
the season, defeated Indiana and Illinois on Saturday and Sunday to
post a 2-0 week. They have now won three straight. Allaire posted
seven hits in the two games and scored four times.
Allaire played the perfect part of a leadoff hitter in the Blue
Devils' victories over a pair of Big Ten teams, which accounted for
CCSU's lone action of the week. The junior third baseman posted a
.727 on-base percentage and smacked seven hits in 10 at-bats while
sparking CCSU to wins over #19 Illinois and Indiana. Allaire went
3-for-5 at the plate with one run scored in the 6-4 victory over
the nationally-ranked Illini.
The Blue Devils' leadoff man kick-started the offense following a
rain delay in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the game's first
at-bat since the raindrops subsided, Allaire shot a double into the
left-center gap and would later score to break a 2-2 tie.
The right-handed hitting infielder was locked in from the start of
Central Connecticut's 12-9 win over the Hoosiers. He singled and
scored the game's first run in the opening inning on his way to a
4-for-5 hitting display. He helped CCSU storm back from a 9-5
deficit in its five-run eight inning. Allaire plated the tying run
with his RBI single before scoring the winning run on a wild
pitch.
