The Central Connecticut women's basketball team has announced their 2011-12 schedule. Now in her fifth season, Coach Beryl Piper unveiled a schedule featuring a challenging 11-game non-conference slate leading into the Northeast Conference season. The Blue Devils will open in Detrick Gym for the second consecutive year, this season they will tip-off with the University of Maine on November 11.
Last year the Blue Devils reached the semifinals of the Northeast Conference Tournament for the third consecutive season. In the last three years under Piper, the Blue Devils have posted a 49-43 won-loss record and a 31-23 mark in NEC action.
This season the Blue Devils will be challenged with non-conference road contests at Massachusetts (11/16), Hartford (11/22), James Madison (12/18) and Boston College (1/2). They will also travel to the Hofstra Tournament on December 21 & 22. Coming to Detrick Gym early next season will be Maine (11/11), New Hampshire (11/27), Holy Cross (11/30), Rhode Island (12/7) and Siena (12/10).

A difficult conference road slate awaits the Blue Devils with games at Wagner (1/14), Mount St. Mary's (1/16), Sacred Heart (1/21), Bryant (1/23), Long Island (2/4), St. Francis (NY) (2/6), Quinnipiac (2/15), St. Francis (PA) (2/18) and Robert Morris (2/20).
The top-eight finishers during the regular season will advance to the NEC Tournament with the winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The tournament games will be played on the home court of the higher seed throughout each round. The quarterfinals will be played March 3, the semifinals March 6, and the finals on March 11.
The Blue Devils finished the 2010-11 season with a 19-11 record, and an 11-7 mark in the NEC. The Blue Devils lost four seniors to graduation, but do return seven players who saw action during last year's campaign.
