Norstrom Defends NEC Rookie Of The Week Honor
Freshman Alex Norstrom was the first NEC freshman to cross the finish line at the Nassaney Invitational to earn back-to-back NEC Rookie of the Week honors.
Freshman Alex Norstrom of the Central Connecticut men's cross country team was named the NEC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. It marks the second consecutive week that Norstom has earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Norstrom defended his Rookie of the Week award by clocking in a time of 16:02 at the Nassaney Invitational this past Saturday in Smithfield, RI. He was the first freshman to cross the finish line for the Blue Devils and he was also the top placing NEC freshman at the meet. With a 38th place overall finish, the Coventry, CT native helped pace CCSU to a sixth place overall team finish.
Norstrom and the Blue Devils will return to action in two weeks when they host the Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT on Saturday, Sept. 26. The men's race is slated to kickoff at 12 noon.
