Bio

Adam Lechtenberg was named (read more) the 15^th head coach in the history of the CCSU football program on January 10, 2023. He returned to New Britain where he spent two seasons (2010 and 2011) as the co-offensive coordinator, helping the Blue Devils to the 2010 NEC Championship.

Lechtenberg graduated from the University of Nebraska with a BS in Agribusiness in 2003. He earned a Masters’ Degree from TCU in 2010.

He and his wife Kristy, a graduate of CCSU, have a daughter, Maddie.

BEFORE CCSU

University of Central Oklahoma (March 2022-January 2023)

• Co-Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach
• First winning season since 2018, with a first-year coaching staff

Virginia Tech (2017-2021)

• Coached running backs and served as offensive recruiting coordinator in 2020-21
• Recruited and coached Khalil Herbert, who averaged 7.7 yards per attempt in 2020 (a school-record) and was drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft
• Also recruited and coached Raheem Blackshear, who spent 2022 with the Carolina Panthers

University of Tennessee-Martin (January 2016-March 2017)

• Passing game coordinator and wide receiver’s coach
• Finished second in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 6-2 record

University of Memphis (February 2012-January 2016)

• Director of player personnel and interim wide receiver’s coach
• Served as interim WR coach in 2015, helping the Tigers to a 9-3 record and a Birmingham Bowl berth
• 2014 squad won the AAC Championship and the Miami Beach Bowl, finishing 10-3
• Helped produce NFL players Anthony Miller, Alan Cross, Mose Frazier and Tevin Jones

Central Connecticut State University (January 2010-January 2012)

• Co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach
• Helped CCSU to the 2010 NEC Championship with a 7-1 league record
• Offense ranked in the top-third of FCS in eight or more offensive categories in each season
• Led the NEC in nine offensive categories in 2010
• Served as recruiting coordinator, including signing all-time leading rusher Rob Hollomon

Texas Christian University (July 2007-January 2010)

• Offensive graduate assistant coach, working with quarterbacks and offensive line
• Appeared in three bowl games during that time, and won the 2008 Mount West Conference title
