Massicotte Named Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week
The Blue Devils host Sacred Heart on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
Senior Lindsey Massicotte of the Central Connecticut volleyball team was named the Molten/Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday by the league office. The honor is the second for Massicotte this season who has helped CCSU to a 14-7 record overall and 7-3 in NEC play. The Blue Devils host Sacred Heart on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
Massicotte averaged 6.71 digs per set as CCSU held opponents to a .160 hitting percentage in two NEC matchups over the weekend. Despite suffering a loss to league-leading LIU Brooklyn on Friday, the senior libero tied an NEC season-high in a four set match with 34 digs on Friday. She added another 13 digs the following day to help the Blue Devils sweep St. Francis Brooklyn. Massicotte third in the conference with 5.13 digs per set. She also won Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11.
Massicotte has posted double-figure digs in 18 matches this season, including a career-high 34 at the Blackbirds this weekend. She has accumulated 20 or more digs in a match 12 times as she has helped the Blue Devils hold opponents to a .163 hitting percentage.
