McCreath Collects Northeast Conference Weekly Awards

Central Connecticut volleyball freshman Samantha McCreath collected a pair of Molten/Northeast Conference weekly honors it was announced Monday. McCreath was named the Molten/NEC Player of the Week and Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week after helping lead the Blue Devils to three wins at the Crosstown Tournament last weekend.
McCreath and the Blue Devils return to action on Friday, Sept. 8, against Niagara at the Hartford Invitational.
McCreath earned dual honors after she led the Blue Devils with 3.36 kills per set as CCSU went 3-0 at the Crosstown Tournament over the weekend. McCreath also averaged 3.45 digs and 0.82 blocks as both her offense and defense were integral in Blue Devil wins over Lafayette, Lehigh and Norfolk State. The Ripon, CA, product recorded double-doubles in CCSU's first two matches of the tournament, including 16 kills and 20 digs in a five-set match with Lehigh. She then posted an efficient .421 hitting percentage in CCSU's sweep of Norfolk State. McCreath finished the tournament with 37 kills, 38 digs, nine blocks and one ace while posting a .284 hitting percentage.
Central is 4-2 on the season and returns to action on Friday, Sept. 8, against Niagara at the Hartford Invitational.
