Rafter Named NEC Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Angie Rafter was named the Northeast Conference track athlete of the week.
Sophomore Angie Rafter was named the Northeast Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league's front office on Wednesday afternoon.
Rafter warmed up for this week's NEC Outdoor Championship by running the 800m at the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational in New Britain. Tuning up on the same track that will host the conference title meet, the second-year Blue Devil broke the tape in 2:16.45. Rafter's time was about 2.0 seconds slower than her seasonal best, but it's still good enough to land her amongst the Top 8 on the NEC leader board. The Nutmeg State product finished fourth in the 800m final during her NEC Outdoor Championship debut last May.
Central Connecticut will host the NEC Outdoor Championship this weekend on May 4-5 in New Britain, CT.
