Preseason Coaches' Poll Predict Central to Finish Second
CCSU received three first place votes in the preseason poll.
The Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team under the direction of tenth year head coach Eric Blake, was predicted to finish second in the 10-team 2018 NEC Coaches' Preseason Poll as announced by the league's front office Friday, Jan. 4.
The Blue Devils took fifth place in the 2018 NEC Championship with a total of 65 points as LIU Brooklyn claimed its seventh title, passing the defending champion Sacred Heart Pioneers 109-106 in the final event of the 2018 championships.
CCSU returns the 2018 NEC long jump champion senior McKenna Kilian who became the first ever Blue Devil to win the event in program history. After winning the NEC Long Jump Title (5.62m) Kilian was named to the All-NEC First Team. The Blue Devils silver medal DMR team, including Kilian along with Angie Rafter, Sierra Nesmith, and Megan Brawner, all earned a spot on the NEC Second Team.
The women's indoor track and field team kicks off the season today at the Wagner College Invitational inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Center in Staten Island, NY.
