Discala Earns NEC Swimming Rookie Of The Week
Rookie contributed three victories in the win over Stony Brook
Central Connecticut swimming and diving newcomer Ella Discala was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Wednesday. She also was named an NEC Prime Performer, along with Katie Czulewicz, for their efforts in the dual meet win over Stony Brook.
Discala captured first place in both breastroke events, accounting for two of the Blue Devils 10 total victories on Saturday. Her 2:25.90 in the 200 is the second-best swim in the conference this season, while her 1:06.86 in the 100 is a top-five effort. She swam the breaststroke leg of the 400 medley relay in a split of 1:06.63 to help CCSU to the win in the opening event of the dual meet.
Czulewicz contributed four wins in the dual, capturing the 200 and 500 freestyles, and both relays. Her 5:10.95 in the 500 is the fastest swim in the NEC this season.
The Blue Devils are back in the pool on November 30 when they travel to Southern Connecticut State for a dual meet.
