McLaughlin and Lawler Named to 2022 NEWISA All-New England First Team
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team had two student-athletes named to the 2022 NCAA Division I All-New England Team. The team, which was voted on by NCAA Division I coaches from colleges and universities in New England, is comprised of a First Team, Second Team and a Third Team. Each team consists of four forwards, four midfielders, four defenders and a goalkeeper.

Midfielder Roma McLaughlin, was named to the 2022 NEWISA All-New England First Team, while defender Delaney Lawler earned a spot on Third Team.
McLaughlin was named to United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Players to Watch list and the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy watch list prior to the start of the 2022 season. She was also named First Team All-NEC and NEC Midfielder of the Year, making her the third NEC student-athlete in history to win a women's soccer major award in four consecutive seasons. She also earned All-Region honors for the fourth time and received an invitation to the 2022 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division I Senior Bowl to cap off her career with the Blue Devils.
Lawler, who also earned All-Region honors, helped CCSU's defense rank second in the NEC in goals against average (1.00) and shutouts (8) en route to earning First Team All-NEC honors. In 50 career contests, she added a goal and an assist. Lawler was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
CCSU women's soccer won their fifth straight NEC regular season title and closed out the 2022 season at 9-6-2 overall and 7-0-2 in league play.
