Lacrosse Drops NEC Opener At Delaware State 11-9
Richardson equals single-game school-record with 10 draw controls.
The Central Connecticut State women's lacrosse team dropped its Northeast Conference opener to Delaware State, 11-9, Saturday morning. The Blue Devils fall to 0-3 on the year, while Delaware State improves to 1-3.
Talie Richardson tied the school single-game record for draw controls, with 10. That number was originally set by CCSU head coach Betsy Vendel, March 15, 2011 versus Liberty. Madison Cowdin equaled that last season at home versus Hartford.
Brieanna Bernier led the way with a hat trick on the offensive end for CCSU. Lauren Valluzzi and Makayla Winegar both scored twice.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Wednesday, March 6th at 1:30 for their home opener versus Howard.
KEY MOMENTS
- The Hornets opened the scoring with tallies at 9:12 and 7:44 of the opening quarter
- Bernier netted her first, on a pass from Talie Richardson with 2:07 to play in the quarter
