Lacrosse Announces Incoming Freshmen Class
Blue Devils add nine for CCSU Class of 2027
Central Connecticut lacrosse coach Betsy Vendel announced the addition of nine student-athletes to the Blue Devils freshmen class. The new additions join the program in the fall as part of the CCSU Class of 2027.
The incoming freshmen are: Jenny Flynn (Trumbull, CT), Tierra Giannelli (Middletown, CT), Ellie Gusitsch (Bethel, CT), Jayden Jones (Salt Point, NY), Cara Kielbasa (Chittenango, NY), Pauline Pluchard-Cole (Redondo Beach, CA), Madeline Rondon (Trumbull, CT), Gabby Testani (Milford, CT), and Makayla Winegar (Southington, CT).
"I am excited about the potential of this rookie class," said Vendel. "They possess a wide array of skills and talents that will mesh well with our returning student-athletes. I look forward to them taking the field for us in the coming years and watching the impact they will have on Blue Devil lacrosse."
Flynn, a defender and midfielder, played at Trumbull High School, where she was an All-West honorable mention and earned the Eagle Award.
Giannelli, who will compete for time at defense and midfield, played at Middletown High School where she was a two-time All-Conference selection and earned a selection to the Connecticut Senior All-Star game.
Gusitsch, a defender and midfielder, played at New Canaan High School and for Gold Coast Lacrosse.
Jones was a goalkeeper at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, where she earned MVP honors and Defensive Player of the Year and was a four-year member of the Honor Roll.
Kielbasa, a midfielder, played at Chittenango High School, and was the female athlete of the year as well as being named most outstanding lacrosse player.
Pluchard-Cole, an attack, played at Redondo Union High School. She played her club lacrosse with Fire Lacrosse and coach Renna Hill.
Rondon, a goalkeeper, played at Trumbull High School and was team captain.
Testani, a goalkeeper, played at Foran High School and for Team CT Lax under coach John Climie.
Winegar, a midfielder, attended Southington High School where she was a two-time All-Conference selection.
