NEC Coaches Poll Announced
Blue Devils were tabbed eighth by the leagues head coaches
The Northeast Conference began Spring Sports Poll Week with the announcement of the women's lacrosse coach's poll. The Blue Devils were tabbed eighth of the 11 teams that will vie for the NEC Championship.
Defending champion Sacred Heart earned nine first place votes as is installed as the preseason favorite. Wagner, picked second, and Le Moyne, picked sixth, earned the other two first place votes in the poll. LIU finished third in the coaches voting, followed by Saint Francis and Stonehill. Merrimack sat one spot in front of CCSU, who was followed by Delaware State, FDU and Howard.
The top-six teams in the regular season standings will qualify for the NEC Tournament. The top-two seeds earn a bye to the semifinals, which along with the championship, will be hosted by the regular season championship. The other four qualifiers will face-off in quarterfinal games on the home site of the third and fourth seeds.
CCSU begins its 2024 season at Rider on February 24th. The teams league opener comes March 3rd at Delaware State, and the home opener, also a league game, is March 6th versus Howard.
