Women's Lax Drops Season Finale at Robert Morris on Sunday
Sinton scores three times in 18-5 loss
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-5 decision on the road at Robert Morris on Sunday in the 2019 season finale for the Blue Devils. Central trailed just 7-5 at the break but the Colonials outscored CCSU 11-0 in the season half to come away with the victory. The loss ends CCSU's season with a 2-14 overall record and an 0-7 mark in Northeast Conference play. Robert Morris is now 12-4 overall and 5-2 in league action heading into next week's NEC Tournament.
Junior Morgan Sinton scored three times in the loss, all in the first half as Central hung with one of the top teams in the conference in the first 30 minutes. The Blue Devils led 3-2 with 19:15 on the clock in the first half after the second goal of the game from Sinton. Robert Morris answered, however, and scored four straight to take a 6-3 lead with 15:20 to play before halftime. Senior Carson Adelberger scored to make it 6-4, and Sinton's third goal of the game, with 5:38 left before halftime, cut the Colonials lead to 7-5 at the break.
Robert Morris turned it on on both sides of the field in the season half, outscoring CCSU 11-0, and holding the Blue Devils scoreless over the final 35:37. Six different RMU players scored at least two goals in the victory.
Senior goalkeeper Jackie Branthover made 18 saves in net in the loss for the Blue Devils. She ends her career with 566 career saves, the second-highest total in school history. She is the school-record holder in appearances (59), starts (58) and minutes (3323:22).
