Women's Lacrosse Drops 12-3 Decision on the Road at Monmouth
Branthover records career-high 21 saves in the road loss
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped a 12-3 road decision at Monmouth on Wednesday, despite an outstanding 21 save performance from senior goalkeeper Jackie Branthover. Monmouth used a strong second half, outscoring CCSU 7-1, to pull away for the victory.
The loss drops the Blue Devils to 2-5 overall on the season. They will return to action on Saturday on the road at Drexel beginning at 4 p.m.
The 21 saves for Branthover give her 468 in her four-year career, and are a season-high. It marks the 50th career game played for the senior, tying her for second place all-time in career games played by a goalkeeper for the Blue Devils. She has started a school-record 49 games of those games. Her 468 career saves are third all-time in school history. Her 21 save performance on Wednesday is a new career-high.
Offensively the Blue Devils were led by senior Carson Adelberger who scored her team-best 12th goal of the season, and added an assist. Sophomore Carrisa Brown and classmate Kaitlyn Rapp each added a goal in the loss.
Nicole Ceraso led Monmouth with four goals in the game while adding four assists. Rachel Mills and Allison Turturro each had three goals as the Hawks improve to 6-3 overall on the season.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Saturday on the road at Drexel at 4 p.m.
