Second Half Comeback Not Enough as Women's Lax Falls at SFU
Sinton leads the Blue Devils with five goals in the road loss
A furious second half comeback fell just short as the Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-9 decision on the road at Saint Francis U on Friday afternoon. The Blue Devils trailed 9-4 at the half and 12-5 with 24 minutes left before rallying in the second half. With the loss the Blue Devils are now 2-13 overall and 0-6 in Northeast Conference play. They'll play their final game of the season on the road at Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon.
Junior Morgan Sinton led a second half attack that saw the Blue Devils outscore the Red Flash 5-4, but Central would get no closer than four goals in the final minutes. Down 12-5, junior Alaigra Usher, Sinton and senior Carson Adelberger each scored to cut the lead to 12-8 with 10:02 on the clock. The Blue Devils defense would hold the Red Flash to just one goal in the final 24:19, but Emileigh Scott's sixth goal of the game at 5:17 secured the victory for the Red Flash.
Sinton led the offense with five goals on just six total shots. Adelberger added a pair of goals while Usher and sophomore Emma Sullivan each added one.
Senior Jackie Branthover made eight saves in goal for the Blue Devils.
Central will end the 2019 season at Robert Morris on Sunday.
