CCSU Headed to Athens Regional on Friday
Blue Devils to face Georgia in first round of NCAA Tournament Friday, May 15 at 5 p.m.
The Central Connecticut softball team will play the No. 14 seed Georgia Bulldogs (40-14) in the Athens Regional of the 2015 NCAA Softball Tournament on Friday night at 5 p.m., the team found out on Sunday evening via the NCAA Selection Show. It is the second time in program history that the Blue Devils will play in the NCAA Tournament with their first appearance coming back in 2013. That year they topped Northwestern State 9-1 in an elimination game to earn their first NCAA Tournament victory. They fell to host LSU 3-2 in the first game before being eliminated by the Tigers in the third round 11-0.

Central enters the NCAA Tournament with a record of 31-12 on the season and defeated the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds 9-8 in extra-innings in the 2015 NEC Tournament to earn the automatic qualifying berth.
Also joining CCSU and Georgia in the Athens Regional are North Carolina (36-14) and Western Kentucky (34-12) to complete the four team regional field. The complete 64 NCAA Tournament field can be accessed via the quick link above or on the Women's College World Series Home Page.
