Softball Battles UNC in Elimination Game at 2:30 PM
The Blue Devils will take on the UNC Tar Heels today at 2:30 p.m. in the first elimination game of the Athens Regional.
The Central Connecticut softball team plays the University of North Carolina Tar Heels today at 2:30 p.m. in the first elimination game of the Athens Regional of the 2015 NCAA Division I Softball Championship Tournament. It will be aired live on ESPN3. The Blue Devils (31-13) and Tar Heels (36-15) have met twice before in the history of the two programs, with UNC holding a 2-0 advantage, sweeping a doubleheader back in 1992.

Central dropped a tough 6-1 decision to host Georgia yesterday after the Bulldogs broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with five runs in the Blue Devils first game of the NCAA Tournament to fall into the loser's bracket. UNC fell to Western Kentucky 2-1 in its opening game to set up the matchup. The winner of the elimination game will immediately after play the loser of the winner's bracket game being played at 12 p.m. this afternoon.

The Blue Devils are making their second NCAA Tournament appearance in the history of the program this weekend and the second in the past three years, with the first coming in 2013. That year they traveled to the Baton Rouge Regional (LSU) and won their first ever NCAA Tournament game with a 9-1 win over Northwestern State.
