Blue Devils Place Third of Seven at Holy Cross
Four different Blue Devils won individual events as the Central Connecticut men's track and field team placed third out of seven teams at Holy Cross on Sunday. Sophmore Jeremy Schmid won the 1,500 meters, sophomore Rashad Williams won the hammer throw, sophomore Nick Trifone won the high jump, and freshman Mohamed Hrezi brok the CCSU school record in the 800 meters while winning the event in a time of 1:52.81.

teams at Holy Cross on Sunday. Sophmore Jeremy Schmid won the
1,500 meters, sophomore Rashad Williams won the
hammer throw, sophomore Nick Trifone won the high
jump, and freshman Mohamed
Hrezi brok the CCSU school record in the 800 meters while
winning the event in a time of 1:52.81.
Hrezi bested the 42 year old Central record of 1:53.30 set by Bruce
McMahon in 1968. Schmid won the 1,500 in a time of 3:56.83, while
Williams toss of 160'2" was good for first in the hammer. Trifone
recorded a mark of 6'4" to win the high jump. The CCSU 4x100 meter
relay team also won with a time of 42.18 seconds. The team was
comprised of freshman Keith
Boyd-Carter, junior Josue Paul, junior Harry Lewis and
freshman Aaron
Radden.
Williams also placed third in the discus, recording a distance of
130'4" to lead the Blue Devils. Also performing well in the field
for CCSU was sophomore Matt Berube. He placed
third in the long jump with a mark of 20'11.25".
Senior Clinton DePaolo and freshman
Nick Lindblom both recorded top five performances in the hurdles on
Sunday. DePaolo placed third in the 110 meter hurdles, crossing
the line in 15.91 seconds. Lindblom ran the 400 meter hurdles in
57.58 seconds to place fifth.
Paul and Lewis added top five finishes in the 100 meter dash to
their relay win. The former took fourth in 11.38 seconds, while
the latter was right behind him, placing fifth in 11.39 seconds.
Freshman Dan
Hopper added a fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash,
recording a time of 50.85 seconds.
The Blue Devils finished with a team score of 99 points to place
third. Maine won the meet with a total of 198 points, while
American International was second with a score of 119. CCSU
defeated the host Crusaders (90), Stonehill (77), Hartford (59) and
Colgate (44).
