Men's Track Competes at UConn Invitational
Sophomore Matt Berube and freshmen Mohamed Hrezi and Keith Boyd-Carter each placed fourth in their respective events as the Central Connecticut track and field team kicked off the outdoor season at the UConn Invitational on Saturday.

Berube took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet 6.25 inches, while Hrezi was fouth in the 1,500 meter run crossing the line in 3:57.41. Boyd-Carter ran the 100 meter dash in 11.28 seconds for his fourth place finish. Berube also recorded also recorded a distance of 40'0.5" to place seventh in the triple jump, while Boyd-Carter joined Berube in the long jump, finishing eighth with a mark of 20'9.25".
Junior Eric Rathbun was the only other Blue Devil to put forth two top 10 performances on Saturday. He took 10th in the long jump with a distance of 19'10.75" and placed eighth in the triple, recording a jump of 39'11.25". Sophomore Nick Trifone rounded out the top 10 finishes from CCSU jumpers as he recorded a mark of 6'4.25" to place fifth in the high jump.
Sophomores Anthony Gonsalves and Jeremy Schmid both tackled the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Saturday. The former placed fifth with a time of 10:01.59, while the latter finished in 10:04.32 to place sixth in the event.
Junior Harry Lewis was right behind Boyd-Carter in the 100 meter dash, placing seventh in a time of 11.37 seconds. Senior Clinton DePaolo and freshman Dan Hopper took the final two top 10 performances in the sprinting events for CCSU. DePaolo placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.87 seconds. Hopper ran the 400 meter dash in 50.52 seconds to take 10th.
Sophomore Rashad Williams took care of the throwing events for Central. He placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 48'2.75" and took 11th in the discus, recording a distance of 134'8".
The Blue Devils will next split the squad at the Bucknell Invitational on Friday April 9 and the UMass Invite Saturday, April 10.
