Hughes and Fanion Named to All-NEC Team

A pair of Central Connecticut men's golfers were named All-Northeast Conference selections by the league office this afternoon. Junior Justin Hughes and freshman Dan Fanion both received second team accolades for their achievements during the 2009-10 season.

Men's Golf Takes Fifth at NEC Championships

The Central Connecticut men's golf team put three players in the top 20, finishing the Northeast Conference Championships in fifth place out of 10 teams in competition. Sophomores Kevin Josephson and Greg Beloin, as well as junior Eric Hawerchuk each shot four over par 76 to lead CCSU in final round action at the ChampionsGate Golf Course in Orlando, FL on Sunday.

Central Moves Up To Fourth At NEC Men's Golf Championships

The Central Connecticut men's golf team moved up to fourth place after second round action at the Northeast Conference Championships on Saturday. The Blue Devils were tied for first after day one, but shot a team score of 305 today and are 11 strokes back of the lead. Sophomore Kevin Josephson led CCSU for the second straight day, coming in at three over par 75 on Saturday.

Men's Golf Competes In First Round Action at NEC Championships

Central Connecticut State University competed in first round action at the Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championships on Friday. The Blue Devils recorded a team score of 310 to finish the first day tied for sixth place with Monmouth. Sophomore Kevin Josephson led CCSU with a two over par 74 on the ChampionsGate Golf Course in Orlando, FL.

Final Day of Northeast Collegiate Invite Canceled, CCSU Takes Seventh

The final round of the Northeast Collegiate Invitational was canceled due to inclement weather on Sunday. The Central Connecticut men's golf team finished in seventh place out of 11 teams at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, RI. Sophomore Kevin Josephson led the Blue Devils, tying for 12th with a 77 in the single round of play.

Central Competes In First Round at Northeast Collegiate Invitational

The Central Connecticut men's golf team competed in day one action of the Northeast Collegiate Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Devils are in seventh place out of 11 teams after the first 18 holes at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, RI. Sophomore Kevin Josephson is tied for 12th with a 77 first round.

Central Finishes Competition at New England Golf Championships

The Central Connecticut State University men's golf team finished competition at the New England Division One Championships on Sunday. The Blue Devils tied for sixth out of 12 teams in competition in Providence, RI, recording a team score of 614. Junior Justin Hughes led CCSU with a two round score of 149 on the par 72 course at Triggs Memorial Golf Club.

Junior Eric Hawerchuk leads Central Connecticut State University after first round action at the New England Division One Championships in Providence, RI. Hawerchuk is currently tied for ninth after shooting 75 on the par 72 course at the Triggs Memorial Golf Club.

Justin Hughes Named Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week

Justin Hughes earned Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week honors after winning the Yale Spring Opener this past weekend. The junior receives the accolades for the first time in his career and is the second Blue Devil this season to be named NEC Golfer of the Week. Freshman Dan Fanion also accomplished the feat twice this year.

Hughes Wins Yale Spring Opener as Blue Devils Place Second

Junior Justin Hughes won individual medalist honors, shooting rounds of 71 and 70, but the Central Connecticut men's golf team finished one strok back of the host Bulldogs to place second at the Yale Spring Opener on Saturday. Hughes defeated all 63 other competitors, as he finished in a three over par 141 for the two round tournament held at the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, CT.

Fanion Garners NEC Golfer of the Week Honors

Freshman Dan Fanion received Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week honors for his performance at Central Connecticut State University's first two tournaments of 2010. It marks the second time Fanion has earned the accolades this season, also garnering the honors back in October.

CCSU Finishes 16th at C&F Bank Intercollegiate

The Central Connecticut State University men's golf team finished competition at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate on Tuesday, tying for 16th place out of 22 teams. Freshman Dan Fanion led the Blue Devils in the second straight tournament of 2010 with a three over par 145 to tie for 10th place overall.

Men's Golf Competes In First Day of C&F Bank Intercollegiate

Junior Justin Hughes led Central Connecticut State University during round one action at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate on Monday. Hughes shot an even par 71 to tie for the sixth best score of the day, as the Blue Devils finished the first day of competition in 10th place out of 22 teams at the Kingsmill Resort Golf Course in Williamsburg, VA.

Fanion Leads Blue Devils at St. Thomas Aquinas

Freshman Dan Fanion shot one under par during 36 holes to tie for third as Central Connecticut State University placed third out of nine teams at the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational this weekend. Fanion finished three strokes back of individual champion Chris Fitzpatrick of the host Spartans. The freshman recorded scores of 71 and 72 during the two rounds of action to finish with a 143 on the weekend.

Men's Golf Picked Second In Northeast Conference Poll

The Central Connecticut State University men's golf team was selected second in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, released this afternoon. The Blue Devils, who finished as the runners-up at last season's NEC Championships, received two out of the 10 first place votes. Junior Eric Hawerchuk will lead CCSU this spring after earning medalist honors at last year's conference championship.

Blue Devils Place Second at New England Championships

Sophomore Kevin Josephson tied for sixth place overall to lead Central Connecticut State University to a runner-up finish at the New England Championships on Tuesday. The Blue Devils recorded a 36-hole score of 588 to place second on the par 72 Captains Golf Course in Brewster, MA. Josephson shot 71 on Monday and carded a one over par 73 to finish in 144 on Tuesday.
