Baseball Runs Past Stony Brook, 15-8
The Central Connecticut baseball team scored a season-high in a 15-8 win at Stony Brook in non-conference action on Tuesday. The teams combined for 23 runs on 26 hits, with six Blue Devils collecting at least two hits apiece.
The Blue Devils host a three-game conference series against Wagner beginning Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU scored in the second, third and fourth innings. In the second, Bo Yaworski tripled with two outs and scored on a double by Gianno Merlonghi. In the third inning, a two-out single by Jeff Nicol drove in two runs to make it a one-run game at the time. Brady Short put Central in front with a three-run homer in the fourth inning, his first homerun of the year.
- Stony Brook put up four runs in the second. Robert Taylor hit a two-run homerun and Cam Santerre tripled home a run, while Erik Paulsen doubled in a run.
- The Seawolves made it a one-run game in the fifth after Evan Goforth hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Paulsen.
- The teams trade three-run frames in the sixth inning. Short would hit a bunt single with Merlonghi on first, but a throwing error on the play allowed Merlonghi to come around and score. Colby Brouillette followed with a two-run homerun to make it 9-5.
- Stony Brook would score three runs in the bottom of the inning. R. Micheli and M. Miceli hit back-to-back RBI groundouts, while a wild pitch would allow another unearned run to score with two outs and make it 9-8.
- The Blue Devils would add insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings. In the top of the seventh, Michael Torniero hit an RBI ground out, while Short would single home a run. In the eight, A throwing error would allow Danny Rogers to score, while Elliot Good would add a two-run single to push the CCSU lead to 14-8.
- Central tacked on a run in the ninth. Hunter Pasqualini drew a one-out walk. He would steal second and then on a steal of third, a throwing error allowed him to score.

- The Blue Devils banged out a season-high 15 hits with six batters collecting at least two hits.
- Short collected three hits at the top of the lineup for CCSU. He would score two runs and drive in four.
- Merlonghi added three hits and four runs scored.

- Jack Kelley was credited with the win. He allowed one run on one hit in 2.2 innings of work.
- Sam Hutchinson pitched 2.1 innings of shutout relief. He struck out two.
