Baseball Falls to Richmond in Finale at Central Virginia Classic
The Central Connecticut baseball team fell to Richmond in its finale at the Central Virginia Classic, 13-3, on Saturday. The Blue Devils led in the fourth until the Spider used a three-run inning to take the lead before winning by the run rule in the eighth.
The Blue Devils are scheduled to host UAlbany on Tuesday for their home-opener.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central would drive in two runs in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead. Back-to-back walks to Hunter Pasqualini and Brady Short opened the inning. After a pair of strikeouts, Colby Brouillette ripped a double to right field that drove in both runners and put CCSU ahead.
- The Spiders would get to CCSU starter, Drew Munn, in the fourth inning after a hit batsman put a runner on first with one out. Jack Arcamone followed with a homerun to right field to put Richmond ahead. After a walk and a flyout, back-to-back singles that didn't leave the infield brought in another run to make it 4-2.
- CCSU made it a one-run game with a score in the seventh inning. Short hit a one-out double to left field. An error would put Blue Devils runners on the corners with two outs. Brouillette would drive in his third run of the game with a single to left to make it 4-3.
- Richmond broke the game open with a seven-run seventh inning. Jake Topolski and Aidan O'Keefe each hit a three-run homerun in the frame. A pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning would end the game on the run rule.
NOTES
- CCSU and Richmond were meeting for the first time.
- Brouillette collected his first two hits with the Blue Devils and was 2-for-4.
- Short went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. He went 4-for-10 in three games and had a pair of doubles.
- Gianno Merlonghi recorded a pair of base knocks as well.
